Kathleen Evans is the Director of the Indiana University Language Workshop at the Hamilton Lugar School of Global and International Studies, where she leads teams managing specialized language and regional expertise training programs. The Workshop serves 1,500-2,000 participants annually—including academic, military, corporate, and private sector members—across more than 25 languages offered in Indiana, online, and abroad.

With over 20 years of experience in program management and partnership development, Evans has successfully overseen grant and contract development for national and international academic programs across multiple institutions, including Indiana University, Arizona State University, and Ohio University. Previously, she directed the Critical Languages Institute at Arizona State University’s Melikian Center and held leadership roles at the Middlebury College Russian School and Ohio University’s Institute for Applied and Professional Ethics.

Professionally proficient in Russian and German, Evans also has a working knowledge of several other languages, such as Finnish, Indonesian, and Uzbek. Her extensive background includes seven years abroad in Germany and Russia, experiences that inform her leadership in language education. At Indiana University, Evans aims to enhance access to intensive language programs and raise the Language Workshop’s national and international profile as the “gold standard” for summer language training.
