GRIT Member
Gökhan was born in Antalya, a city flooded with visitors from all over the world. A fascination with world languages and cultures quickly grew within him. He was a quick study when it came to learning new languages and volunteered to guide visitors around the many historical sites in his city during his teenage years. Later, he decided to take his passion even further by making it a career choice and studied English Language and Literature at Selçuk University in Konya. Although he was quite content dabbling in literary pieces, he started working as an English instructor in 2006.

Throughout his career, he has assumed various roles in his institutions, from educational manager to materials developer and event organizer to assessment tools developer. A true jack of all trades and master of none, he decided to pursue his Master’s degree in the Department of Teaching English as a Foreign Language at Bilkent University. During his studies, he discovered that technology would become a key player in the future of language learning and teaching. He developed an interest in instructional technologies, technology integration into language classes, and digital material development. Currently, he is pursuing his PhD in the Computer Education and Instructional Technology Department at Ege University. He wishes to work on generative and automation technologies in the future—after all, it’s good to be on friendly terms with machines when they begin their quest for world domination (Go machines!).
Outside of his professional endeavors, Gökhan enjoys a well-told story, whether it’s found in the pages of a good book or on screen. He is an avid fan of reading, cinema, theater, and computer games. He also loves the great outdoors, embracing nature through cycling and swimming.
In team GRIT, he mainly aims to smooth the edges when bridging the gap between research and implementation by creating meaningful and enjoyable learning materials. However, he feels absolutely ready to assume any mantle, cloak, or piece of garment he is provided with!
